ADOHTA QLD

With the first graduates of the School Dental Therapist Training Centre in Queensland in 1976 so too began the Qld School Dental Therapist Association. The QSDTA was run by volunteer School Dental Therapists mostly from Brisbane and meetings were held in the Yeronga School Dental Therapist Training Centre for many years.
The QSDTA went through constitution and name changes to adapt to the changing needs of the members. With the introduction of oral health therapists in 1999 the association became the Dental and Oral Health Therapist Association of Queensland and was incorporated.

DOHTAQ grew in membership and recognition as the peak body representing dental and oral health therapists in Qld and for some time was the only professional body representing oral health therapists in Australia.

In 2011 an amalgamation of the state and territory dental and oral health therapist associations with the National body, ADOHTA (Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’' Association Inc) led to DOHTAQ becoming ADOHTA QLD Branch.
In 2016 ADOHTA QLD Branch celebrated 40 years of Dental Therapy at their conference and Retro 70's themed dinner.  Almost every graduating year of dental and oral health therapists had representatives attending as well as past tutor dentists and therapists.
