Dr Andrew Savundra on Voluntary Orthodontics in East Timor 6:30pm (1hr)

Dr Savundra will be talking about the Timor Leste Cleft Lip and Palate program which he supports.  Topics covered will include a background of the project, the type of work, the patients they see and the future of the project.

Dr Savundra is an orthodontist in private practice in Western Australia with clinics in South Perth, Willetton and a country practice in the goldfields town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder,

He is a dental graduate of the University of Western Australia and went on to do his post grad training in orthodontics at the University of Adelaide. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a Member in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

He is a Senior Lecturer and Tutor at University of Western Australia teaching the post graduate orthodontic students in the Tip-Edge Appliance and also Volunteers in East Timor on a regular basis as part of the Timor-Leste Cleft Lip and Palate programme.

He is the immediate past president of the Dental Study Group of Western Australia and current president of the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontists.

Outside work he is a keen fisherman and says he did orthodontics so he could bend up his own wire traces for Mackeral fishing in the States north west. He enjoys the outdoors with his wife and family of 3 children.
