Dental TherapistA Dental Therapist (DT) is a registered independent dental practitioner who is trained, educated and competent in assessing, diagnosing, treating, managing and preventing oral disease. A DT provides preventive and restorative dental care, including fillings and extractions. They often focus on providing care to children and adolescents as well as some adults. |
Dental HygienistA Dental Hygienist (DH) is a registered independent dental practitioner who is trained, educated and competent in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education (to prevent oral disease) and promotion of healthy oral behaviours. DH's may focus on periodontal or gum treatments, preventative services and other oral care. |
